A Laotian cooking course

One of our favorite activities on holiday is a local cooking class. These classes are generally quite touristic, but still allows you to learn and taste more than you normally would in a restaurant. On our trip to Laos we also decided to join a cooking class in the amazing city of Luang Prabang.

One of the most famous cooking schools is run by one of the most famous restaurants in the city: Tamarind. The course runs from 9-3 in the afternoon, and involves a trip to the market, which is definitely not for the fainthearted. Once all ingredients are purchased there is a short transfer to the lake side location where the actual training takes place.

In total about 5-6 dishes are made that give a good overview of the Laotian cuisine. We had an absolutely amazing time, and this was probably one of the best cooking courses we have done to date for probably one of the lowest prices: about 25 pounds.
